Export

The Biosecurity Vanuatu (BV) is responsible to facilitate agricultural trade primary produce exports. The main area of responsibility is to assist exporters by exploring market access opportunities for targeted produce (such as dried kava, copra, tahitian lime and other prime commodities).

Export health certificates are provided by BV in the case of beef product, tuna fish and live ornamental; fish exports. Commercial exports of beef products are certified by our department attesting to the conditions of slaughter, wholesomeness of the product and health status of the country’s livestock. The health certification of live ornamental, marine fish is provided by BV according to certification requirements of importing countries and tuna fish certification is provided according to DAFF Australia’s conditions

Factors contributing to the export of primary produce from Vanuatu are mainly the requirements of the importing countries.

BV has some system already in place for exporting produce that are important such as:

  1. Requirement for packhouse facilities (inspection of facilities)
  2. Requirement for exporter licence
  3. Export requirement for certain commodities under Vanuatu Bilateral Agreement with New Zealand and other countries

Therefore, if need more information please email our office or call your nearest Biosecurity Office.

For plant export (and their products), refer to Plant Product Export or contact the Principal Biosecurity Officer,Mr. Francis Qarani and refer to Animal Product Export or contact our Senior Veterinary officer, Dr. Roger Phillips.
